Who is Deryck Richardson?

 Deryck was born and raised in Central Ohio and has been a resident of Hilliard since 2007.  Deryck and his wife Desiree have 4 children: Alex and Luis are graduates of Hilliard Davidson High School, Kyahnna is a Senior at Hilliard Davidson and Caleb is an 8th grader at Weaver Middle School.  Deryck is the President and CEO of Richardson Marketing Group, LLC a marketing firm specifically designed to increase customer acquisition efforts of insurance agents. Deryck is also a partner in an insurance agency and is the acting COO of Freedom Direct, LLC.  In 2016, both businesses moved their operations to Deryck’s Henderson Rd office location. Deryck recently added K.R. ltd, a cosmetic business, to his group of companies. Deryck’s daughter “Kiki” is currently in charge of all operations (with a little guidance) and will be hired as CEO on her 18th birthday.

A one time school teacher, and a coach for over 20 years, Deryck has always been passionate about the growth and development of our youth.  Deryck currently sits on the Board of the Hilliard Optimist Youth Club. In addition to his role as Director of Basketball Operations, Deryck is the current Vice President and is set to hold the President’s seat this coming fall.  When Deryck stopped teaching, he promised to never stop impacting the lives of future generations and plans on continuing his volunteer efforts with The Hilliard Optimist Club for many years to come.

Deryck Richardson has held a variety of roles and titles throughout his career. However, the first thing his friends and family will tell you is that he has never forgotten where he comes from or who he’s always fought for. Committed to change in our world, Deryck Richardson has set his standards high, and will not stop fighting until a proper balance has been reached.

Deryck believes he can make an impact on local government in several ways.  

Many of the residents of Hilliard do not know, or understand, the Ward System that encompasses Hillard.  Deryck is a firm believer that Ward Committees are an excellent way for the community to voice concerns that are specific to their Ward.  There are more than 20 districts within Hilliard City Limits (those districts make up the 4 Wards), and conversations within districts could condense area specific topics even more.  We want the people to be heard in small government, not sheltered from what’s going on.

A businessman versed in negotiation, Deryck would like to begin conversations with Columbus City Council in hopes to form strategic partnerships that will have a positive impact on both communities.  Diversity training, business development, youth programs that include athletics, but include vocational outlets as well.

If elected, Deryck plans to have weekly “Coffee Hours” where anyone can come, sit down, have a cup of coffee, and talk.  Deryck knows the only way to make change is to listen to what the people want to have changed. As wonderful as Hilliard is, Deryck believes a few tweaks can make Hilliard an even better place to live.
